Part-to-Whole vs. Whole-to-Part:
How Sighted and Blind Web Navigation Differs

Presented on Accessibility Talks (A11yTalks), this 1-hour session aims to demystify screen reader navigation and create common ground between sighted and blind communities.

More specifically, Dr. Williams explains the 2 different strategies: a sighted person taking in a page at a glance then homing in (a “whole-to-part” approach), versus someone blind piecing together bits of information to create the full picture (a “part-to-whole” approach).
